What I Did this Summer:

If you can name any of the people in the picture other than myself, you get a cookie.

These were by far two of the greatest and most influential days of my life.

I’ll post more about it later, for now enjoy pictures of me with Hollywood stars inside high-level security government buildings. I hope I don’t get arrested for putting them up!

Myself and quite a few members of Strike a Pose!!! Films and the Future Film Makers Club from Gaithersburg and Salisbury alike attended Otakon 2008 just a couple of weeks ago. It was REALLY great. You’ve already seen one video about our time there (The Guilty Gear Tournament, see previous post), and hopefully by the end of the week you’ll see our other film documenting Max Action’s escaped around day 1 of the con. For now though, take some time to look over the pictures, most of which were shot by club alumni Amber. If you’re in any of them, be sure to comment! They’ll be in the gallery soon.

My camera has served me so well in the year or so that I have had it. Using this wonderful piece of technology, I have shot Clarity, Line of Sight, A Growing Problem, some segments of Gull Man, Man of Action, and about a bazillion other little things from the narrative perspective. But do you know what else a Panasonic PVGS500 is good for? Filming random events like Talent Shows, Karaoke, and Guilty Gear Tournaments!

My younger brother’s first time on stage performing a song he wrote. Kid’s got some real charisma too!

My turn to start yelling angry lyrics in bars. I think I scared some of the people in the foreground of this footage. Shot expertly by my wonderful girlfriend, Jenny.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Tournament at Otakon 2008
Let the Games Begin! as my friends James, Phil, Amber and I took off the gloves and put our best moves out to show for the most exciting matches of our lives.

I miss my Canon Elura 90 dearly, but when it comes down to it, this is one of the clearest-shooting cameras I’ve ever used, with great video and audio quality and a heck of a range in terms of versatility. Just wait till you guys see Clarity and Line of Sight. The true power of this little guy will be seen!

Otakon 2008 Notice

I’ll be attending this year’s Otakon at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland. Thankfully, the jerks at my place of business felt it better to let me go early this summer, so I can go all 4 days!

I’ll be there filming some new stuff for the website and getting together with friends and parading around as both Max Action from our films and Johnny from Guilty Gear X2– A game I one day pledge to make into a feature film.

It’s been a long road to this thing and I’ll put up pictures and video later, but hey, until then meet up with me if you can find me! You’ll get a spot on the website and a ton of kudos if you’re in costume!

Here’s a video from a long, long time ago (one of my first, actually) of some of the craziest exploits I could film from the convention, click here to comment.

It’s a nerdy thing, it really is. But it’s too much fun to pass up.

See you all around the bend.

Westhavenbrook Releases Sockbaby 4

The time has come, the Walrus said…

Westhavenbrook, the amazing film group behind Sockbaby 1-3, The Battle Jitni series, and many other entertaining amateur and Zero-budget chopsocky films, have released their biggest movie yet. John Soares returns as our jive-talking’, smooth-walkin’, ass-kickin’ hero, Ronny Cordova to do what he does best: Kicks some ass while walkin’ smooth and talkin’ jive! All the while looking really good doing it.

It should be pretty well known around here that STRIKE A POSE!!! Films has found a lot of inspiration through Westhavenbrook’s original film, and wouldn’t have come nearly as far as we have without their further inspiration and kind words of support. So we’re gonna post their new video for you guys to see, but by all means, go to the Sockbaby Official Website to see the original films, then download the new one in HIGH DEF WMV below:
