If I believe correctly, Ness in fact died of alcohol poisoning (or just due to overdrinking one night, not sure) a few years after prohibition ended. He in fact wasa massive drunk before and after prohibition, which is rather hilarious, though it does prove he followed the letter of the law, even if he didn't like it himself.

That and I'm not sure about Malone's death. Yeah, the thorough accountant did die, and acted as a serious reason to take down Capone immediately, but not sure about the older timer cop. I think he did die in the book, though not as dramatically.

And yeah, the assasin scene never happened. I mean, cmon, one of the more useful people on the outside, exposing himself as a hired man? Pft, Capone might have been nuts, but never stupid. I think he died of old age, but don't quote me on it.

Still, the book I liked better, even if the movie did kick a fair amount of ass. Heh, just seeing Sean Connery as a cop amused the hell out of me.

Also, when my summer classes finish, I'd like to see about doing a movie marathon of classic films, before people head back to school. Hmmm, and I jsut ordered a nice little film pack sold at woot.com today. Check it out, if you get a chance.
